Pictures from GNEW

This weekend went alright, I guess.  Losing my voice kind of put a damper on things.  My voice seemed to get a bit better after I got home this afternoon, but it isn't back completely yet.   Maybe after a good night sleep.

On July 13th I mentioned the location sign.
The picture below is me in front of that sign.
I am pointing the Kingdom my son lives in.

July 14th I didn't get out much either.
There are a few pictures from the first part of court.

No pictures were taken today by me.  We left a little after noon and went to lunch with my brother.  After the long drive home and some unpacking, we showered and and had a relaxing evening at home.  My happy things for today are catching up with my brother and getting clean after a weekend of camping.

Lost

Last night as the sun set my voice started to go away.   It became raspy.  It has continued to deteriorate today and as the sun begins to lower again it is mostly gone.   This is not something that happens often.   I'm hoping that it is allergies since I haven't been taking my allergy pills as often as I should.

Earlier today when my voice had a little bit of life I  spoke with a person who is newer to the SCA.  I love hearing the excitement that people just starting to be involved have.   That is my happy for today.  She was also very understanding about my voice and carried these conversation.   ðŸ˜Š

Just Some Happy Things

Since I am off camping and I would rather not kill my battery tonight,  here are a few happy things for today:

  • Long talks with my sister-in-law
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Good friends
  • Hugs
  • The location sign
  • So many stars
I'll try to add a picture later.

Short

It was a long day full of me watching Gideon and packing to be away this weekend.  Many little things went wrong and other things took longer than I thought resulting in my leaving much later than expected to visit my brother and his wife and go to an event.  I am gratefully enjoying the hospitality of family with a soft bed and a bathroom to myself tonight.  Tomorrow I will be camping.  These are my happy things today.

Pretty Sky.

Just a Happy

There is a podcast I started to listen to recently that was going to be my happy for today.  It is called Conversations With People Who Hate Me and is by Dylan Marron.  Mr Marron is an online performer who happens to received hateful, derogatory emails and in this podcast he gets in touch with and holds conversations with people who have basically bullied him.  So far they find some common ground to talk with each other about and the hate is over by the end of the podcast.  This was going to be my happy for today and then Gideon walked into my room.  Sorry Mr. Marron, but my six year old grandson wins out for today's happy.  We started talking about Pokemon and then went for a very short walk so I could catch a few before the day was over.  The weather outside this evening is lovely with a splash of breeze and Gideon had made up stories about Pokemon to energize our walk.  😊

Arlecchino

Rehearsing for an improv is tough, there is no getting around that.  There is an outline that has a vague story line  but the rest is up to the performer.  Tonight I made some minor mistakes and missed some cues and found that I was saying anecdote instead of antidote.  I know the words, my mouth just didn't want to say the correct one.  Z joined me this evening to rehearsal because the person who usually plays Arlecchino wasn't able to be there tonight.  We spent over an hour in the car going over the outline and I still could have gone over it more.  Going to the rehearsal is my happy for today.   Now I need sleep.

Quests

The family took a walk tonight and played Pokemon Go.  Gideon borrowed my phone so he could play.  For some reason, while walking around, this Simon & Garfunkel songA Hazy Shade of Winter, has been going through my head.  The line "there's a patch of snow on the ground" especially.  Is this just some wishful thinking because it has been so hot out?  I'm not wishing for the winter, there is still so much of the summer to experience.  So many things I wanted to do that I haven't made the time for.

There was time made today for some organizing and returning of some SCA supplies.  I also did some sewing and got a 15th century chemise almost completed.  This will be for the performance I will be in next month.  We were hoping that the gown I am borrowing for this would fit me better over a lighter weight chemise, but I still struggle to get in and out of it.  There is also an event that I expect that Italian clothing will be appropriate for and will have some ready for it if all goes well.

The last few days E, my son's girlfriend, has been posting quests on her Facebook for her friends to do.  Sometimes they are fairly simple, like drink a big glass of water.  Other things she has posted are to post a song that has meaning for you in her comments and tell someone you love them.   The latest is to post a fact you find interesting.  I've been having fun doing these and have decided that they are my happy for today.   Now to come up with a fact I find interesting...  😜
